Un centenar de académicos firman por la libertad de los presos políticos

“Somos académicos de diecinueve países diferentes que trabajamos en campos como el derecho, los derechos humanos, política, sociología, historia y materias relacionadas. En las últimas dos semanas, hemos visto una escalada en las acusaciones y detenciones de España contra sus oponentes políticos. No hay duda que vivimos los días más oscuros de la democracia española desde 1978.

Además de los cuatro presos políticos y la notoria detención de Carles Puigdemont, cinco políticos más escogidos democráticamente también han sido encarcelados: Jordi Turull, Josep Rull, Raül Romeva, Dolors Bassa y Carme Forcadell. Siete más están en el exilio bajo amenaza de prisión. Aparte de Clara Ponsatí, un caso que es familiar a los lectores, también hay Marta Rovira, Anna Gabriel, Toni Comín, Meritxell Serret y Lluís Puig.

Los exiliados son perseguidos con una orden de detención europea que ha sido emitido bajo la protección de la Unión Europea. Escribimos para pedir su liberación inmediata y para exigir que la UE actúe de inmediatamente para detener la represión, que supone una mancha permanente e imborrable a la democracia europea”.
